Memorial Day Weekend
Memorial Day Weekend
For Memorial Day I went shopping with my sister. I also went to the park with my little brother, while he was playing basketball, I read a book. Most of the day on Saturday I was reading, writing and watching Netflix. I was reading Pride and Prejudice. I watched various movies with my sister while she was hogging all the popcorn. I also went to this small ice cream shop after the park, i would like to say that i liked the ice cream but i didn’t eat. I went to the mall with my sister because she was looking for a dress. She’s graduating pretty soon and she needed my advice. On Sunday I went to church and then went back home. On Monday i spent my day writing while listening to music. I also spent Monday planning my friend's birthday, which is actually next Monday. I went for a walk to let stress out. While I went walking I saw a cute little puppy. The puppy followed me home, and I fed it. But after a while it left.

“ When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”- Alan Paton
The significance of the quote is pretty clear to me. Some may not understand it, but i do. It talks about forgiving someone for the mistakes they do. We all get hurt in some point of our lives, and I admit, it feels like if the pain will never go away. It feels like a hole in your chest, gnawing away at your soul. You break down, and its okay to break down. I've learned from experience that when you keep those emotions inside, the feelings combine and come out in a stronger effect. You feel trapped inside, you ask yourself why it happened to you. But like i said it passes, and we heal. We must learn to forgive, we can’t keep feeling anger and hate inside of us. Its unhealthy for us, and sometimes we think that we have a right to feel hate, but you don’t. Because one day you will be old and you have not forgiven, it will still be inside you, haunting you.
Memorial Day
Memorial Day
Memorial day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died protecting and serving in the country's armed forces. It is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag in every grave in national cemeteries. On Memorial Day the United States flag is raised to the top of the staff and then lowered to the half-staff position, which remains until noon. It is then raised to full staff for the remainder of the day. Some things that I will do to respect this day is pray for those who are in grieving, give thanks to the people that have served our country.
I think memorial day is a very special day all across the world. It is the day that we give thanks to those who have served and provided for our country. We also thank and celebrate for the one’s that have made it back. We grieve the loss that others and ourselves are going through. Some people don’t know how to cope with this because it is hard to lose someone you love. I’m not saying that you will forget about them, but your heart will mend, and you will be fine soon. We need to move on because that is how life is. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore the people that have died for us. We should respect and honor the people that have done so much for us and the country.

Student Success Statement: Phillip Riggs
- Work hard
- Follow your passions. Do things you are interested in doing
- Don’t chase after money
- Serve others. Do good things for others, and good things will come to you.
- Phillip Rigg’s
I believe these four tips by Phillip Rigg’s are very helpful. These tips tell us to do what we love. Do what makes us happy and enjoy it. To not do it for anyone else, if you like to do something do it. We need to work hard to accomplish things in life, we won’t get anything unless we are willing to try. To be kind to others, to show compassion. Help others when they truly need it. These tips state that if you do good things to others, good things will come to you, and I believe this quote. It is only a matter of time when it will happen. But we need to be kind, compassionate, and caring. We must learn to forgive and move on, show we are kind and good things will happen to us. We just need to follow these tips and we will succeed in life.

“ I have been asked what I mean by ‘ word of honor ‘. I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls-walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground-there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can i get out of that circle? No, never I’d die first.” - Karl G. Maeser
