Student Success Statement: Dr. Ben Carson

“ I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and i can change that ( poverty ). It depends on how hard I want to work, and I decided that I wanted to change it. “- Dr. Ben Carson

What this quotes significance is that we decide if we want to change our future. We all come from a family, we all know what it's like for us to want something but never get it. For some of us it is even more hard to support our family, we all have a path. We all have a path that leads us somewhere, but the thing is we never know when and where that path will lead us and end. We don’t know when it can end or where it leads. That is a mystery for us all, well for most of us anyways. But we all have one, the possibilities of where they might lead are endless. And that is a good thing, we don’t know our future. The best part in life is that you don’t take it somewhere unless you make the choice. Unless you say so it will keep leading to a path the is unknown. So unless you do something about it to change it, no one else will change it for you. You will have to take responsibility for your own future, it's not someone else's life, it's yours. You need to learn how to hold on to life when you're slipping, you take control. If you don’t you’ll fall and you will end up where you started. Work hard and it will pay off, do it for the people you care about and if not for them, then at least do it for yourselves.

Student Success Statement: Russell M. Nelson

“ Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT. “- Russell M. Nelson

I agree with Russell Nelson when he says that doing wrong is never right. I have a thought, and it goes like this, we were brought into this world to help eachother out.  We are all given many chances when we make a mistake, and the thing is we make that mistake again. Many people ignore it, all they are thinking is to live while were young. I think that is partly true but many people don’t understand what it truly means. And that's okay, i mean like i said we all make mistakes. There has never been a person that has never made a mistake. It is not possible. Anyways, we are all given many chances and sometimes we don’t see them or take it. We think that once we have made a mistake there is no turning back, sometimes it's true. But I've learned that it's never too late to turn back. So here's my advice learn from your mistakes. At least try to learn from them, it's not as complicated as it looks.

Student Success Statement: Thomas S. Monson

“ You can't be right by doing wrong; you can’t be wrong by doing right.” - Thomas s. Monson

I agree with Thomas Monson, you can’t be right by doing the wrong thing. It is impossible to do something that is wrong and be right. And you can’t do something right and be wrong. What this means is whatever you action is, if it is wrong, you know that this can’t be the right thing to do. We all know the difference between right and wrong, but we choose to ignore it. Why do we ignore it? That is the question. Why do we do it? We do it because we are scared. We do it for many reasons but the main reason is because we are terrified. We are scared that if we do the right thing someone will judge you. We think that someone will think less of us, but that is not true. Everyone has flaws, we all make mistakes. But that is something different. What I’m saying is that we are all different. Nobody is the same.  We are all different from one another, so embrace your differences.

Student Success Statement: Dean Smith

“ I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right. “- Dean Smith

I think Dean Smith was a good person. He was a person that did not think about himself first. He thought about how others might feel. He showed that he cares about other people and that he is an honest person. This quote shows us, the readers that he did what he thought was right. He didn’t do anything because of the fame or because he wanted to be known. He did it because he knows how it feels when you lose something. He clearly states that he wasn’t trying to do anything all he wanted to do was the right thing. I think he is a kind and thoughtful person. He kept an open mind for how others felt. He showed a lot of people and proved to them that he was unselfish and that he really cared about how others felt. He is a person that anyone would like to be or know personally. He is a huge role model for many people that want to be like him.

Student Success Statement: Theodore Roosevelt

“ Of all the work that is done or that can be done for our country, the greatest is that of educating the BODY, the MIND, and above all the CHARACTER, giving spiritual and moral training to those who in a few years are themselves to decide the destinies of the nation. “-Theodore Roosevelt

What i think the significance of this quote is to tell us, remind us of who we are and what we want to be in the future. It gives us a reminder that we all have a different personality. And we all have different ways in looking at things, but we all have a body, mind, and character, when i think of these three words i think about our society. Mind, we all have a brain that we use everyday and every second of our lives. It gives us a sense in what to do, and how to do it. Body, we use it do things as well. There are better ways to use our bodies instead of wasting time like making holes through it or marking ourselves. Character, our character tells everyone what and how we are. We need to use our characters for good things, instead of being rude all the time. We can use it in so many ways that we didn’t even know. We can use all these things to help a person, or help yourself. You can use these strategies to help a person that is in need. We all have these things and sometimes we don’t use them because we are scared that we might not fit in or think that we are weak. So we build a wall to hide how we really feel. We need to stop hiding or wasting our lives, you are the key.

Student Success Statement: Martin Luther King Jr.

“ Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.”- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The significance of this statement is to make people understand what you can achieve with intelligence and character. We can have a good character but what does that work for? Or you can be intelligent and not have good character. These things matter because we need to learn how to appreciate the things that are given to us. We need to learn that whatever is given to us is useful. There is always a way in life. You have to show good character and be smart. You have to show that not everything in life is as bad as people think. We need these things in our life. They make us improve and understand the world. It makes us understand why we are here. We need to understand that we can be intelligent and have a good character. We need these things in our life to make other people understand.

Class Evaluation

Some things I like about this class are that we have free time if we are finished with everything. I also like that we get to learn new things like making a blog or making a google sheet.

Things I did not like about this class was that we had a certain amount of time in doing things and sometimes we would not be able to finish.

Recommendations for improving this class is to give more free time and get the students to try and search up different things not just careers. To make them learn different things and what's happening.

A highlight for me in this class was learning on typing tutorial, now my typing has improved.

Yes i did do my best in this class, i finished all my work and participated in class.

Yes i am reading my life planning goals journal everyday to remind myself of what i need to improve on.

Yes i am committed to being a CTR Person because I like to see people happy and not struggling.

Student Success Statement: Paul Hatch

“ When you tell a lie it leads to another.” - Paul Hatch
I agree with Paul Hatch when he says this statement. We all know that everyone lies at some point in their lives. We lie because we don’t want to get in trouble, or you want to protect someone. Whatever the reason is well more like excuse, you lead to a lie. It doesn’t matter how small the lie is, it's still a lie.  It can affect many people with such a little lie.  It can affect you too.  You need to think about people around you.  You need to think about what your action will cause.  We all know that after a bad thing we do there are consequences.  We all know that there are consequences yet we still do them anyways.  Why is that?  We still do it because you think that you can get away with it, because you don’t want to deal with it.  You say you will deal with it later but then time passes and you don’t.  This is due to laziness.  People like to be lazy and want things to be done for them.  But that is not how life works.  You need to learn to face your problems and become responsible.  You need to face the fact that for every action there is a consequence.  There is no need for lies because you can simply tell the truth.  It is that simple, tell the truth and you won’t have to think of all the bad possibilities.

Student Success Statement: Mark Twain

“ Always do right.” - Mark Twain

I agree with Mark Twain when he says these three meaningful words. As a person, we all have choices. Every choice we decide to make changes our future. It can change your future in a good way or a bad way. Every second of everyday there is always something happening. There is never going to be a time where nothing is happening. You have to choice if you're going to be the cause of the action. You can either cause it or prevent it from happening. You have many choices throughout your whole life. We may choose the wrong choices once in awhile. But sometimes we choose the right choice because we want what’s best for us. We want the best choice and selfishly everyone wants that.Or selfishly we want it for ourselves or for a person not to have those choices. We all know that one way or another your mistakes will come back to you. There is never going to be a time where you will do something bad and not face the consequences.

Student Success Statement: Lou Holtz

  1. Can people trust me to do whats right?
  2. Am i committed to doing my very best?
  3. Do i treat people the way I want to be treated?

“ If the answer to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail.” - Lou Holtz

I agree with Lou when he says there is no way that you can fail if the answer to all these questions are yes. If you think about it these questions are very important, they should make you think and reflect on yourself. If you take a moment to think about this and really take it in, you will realize that some people are not aware of how they look and act most of the time. You have to be careful when you do things, you have to think about your actions before you do anything. Think about what consequences come within your actions. Be smart and think about it well. You don’t want to do something and then later on regret it. You have to be aware of the things you can lose and are risking. Do something because you know it will help you. Do it because you care.

Challenges Teens Face Today

Challenges Teens Face Today

  1. Several challenges teens face today is pressure from your parents and expectations.
  2. A challenge i am dealing with today is trying to keep up with all my work since this is my first year of high school.
  3. It can help me by not being shy and ask more questions during class and it can help me commit to school.
  4. I can encourage other teens to not give up and try to focus on the main things in school.

Reflection: teens have the need to have a mobile device in site and that is what may cause a distraction.
