The 10 Indian Commandments

  1. Treat the Earth  and all that dwells therein with respect.
  2. Remain close to The Great Spirit
  3. Show great respect to your fellow beings
  4. Work together for the benefit of all mankind
  5. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed
  6. Do what you know to be right
  7. Look after the well-being of mind and body
  8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good
  9. Be truthful and honest at  all times
     10) Take full responsibility for your actions

Reflection: These commandments are very important. They tell us to be respectful to ourselves and to others. They teach us how to live our lives. How to act towards other people, to be kind and respectful. To be honest at all times, to show the good side of ourselves. To show goodness towards others and ourselves. To take responsibility of what we do and when we do it. These are very important, they have a bigger meaning besides what’s written. This is the way to live a life  that has purpose. Make yourself have a purpose, show others that they also have a purpose. And show ourselves that we can be kind and have a purpose.

Student Success Statement: Alexander Hamilton

“ A promise must never be broken. “- Alexander Hamilton

I agree with Alexander when he states this quote. I believe in promises, we make promises all the time even if we may not see it. We give hope to other people or make people believe we will follow through with our word. But sometimes we can’t, or we forget. I’ve learned to never promise someone anything if you are not sure. Don’t make a promise to a person while you know that you won’t do it. We give hope to people but when we don’t do it we make ourselves look untrustworthy. We make ourselves look like liars and bad people. We need to understand the meaning of making a promise. It's  more than just words, it's giving them the reassurance and  you giving them permission to trust you. When we break our promises we show that we are not valuable. And many people depend on us when we make a promise.

Student Success Statement: Henry David Thoreau

“ Goodness is the only investment that never fails. “ - Henry David Thoreau

I agree with Henry David. Our world is filled with so much hatred. Once in awhile you will see someone being kind. Other times you’ll see a lot of hatred. Why cause more hatred in the world? Be the person to show kindness. Be the bigger person and help someone out that is in need. Show people kindness, show them that there is still people that appreciate them. Having a good character and doing the right thing both fall upon the same category. I infer that most happy people are loving life because they did the right thing instead of taking the easy way. We only have one life and in that life we are suppose to do everything and anything we can to make it worth it. Make something good out of ourselves instead of something bad.

Student Success Statement: Theodore Hesburgh

“ My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right. “-Theodore Hesburgh

I agree with Theodore Hesburgh when he states this quote. We are always going to be surrounded by bad influence if we choose to hang out with the wrong people. Bad influences are all around us we can either go after them or stay with our own influence, which is doing the right thing. Why make a decision that is considered the easiest route when it can lead you to something worse. Sometimes when we choose to do something because it is simple it is usually has no value. That is why it is better to try your best doing the right thing. It is better to take the route that takes hard work because in the end it is valuable. Some people don’t like to work hard. They like to take the easier route because it looks like fun, while the other one looks like overalls and hard work. Some people don’t like hard work, they like to take it the easy way. But in the end you have to reflect before you make your decision, which one is the one that is gonna make you feel happy and take you to success? And which one is going to take you down and make you suffer?

Student Success Statement: Joseph Smith

“ It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound.” - Joseph Smith

I think this quote has a lot of meaning to it. We are suppose to be the example of others. We are a role model to the people around us. When we teach others the CTR is the right path we are giving them a gift to them everyday life. We learn that giving fame to unsound things is obnoxious and nasty. We know that cheating is not right so why make it a trend in our lives?  If you wouldn't see somebody else do it, why do it yourself. Making honesty and integrity common is the main focus or main goal we should all try to achieve. For the good of us and everyone around us. We should all at least make an effort to be kind and show gratitude to others. Try to show people that there is no need to be cruel or rude, we have no excuse to be cruel to anyone whether they deserve it or not.

Spring Break

Spring Break

For spring break I went to Santa Monica for 4 days. I went to the beach and walk around in the sun by the shore. It was really hot, when we were walking around with my aunt we were talking and didn’t notice that we were surrounded by bees. My aunt is allergic to bees so she was freaked out and in shock, she couldn’t move at all. I also went to watch a Clippers game at Staples Center with my family. It was interesting and kind of scary to see such tall people. I went home and read for a while. I was reading the Twilight series during the day. After reading i finished an essay that was due on Monday, and math homework. I had to babysit my siblings it wasn’t fun at all. We went to the observatory on Saturday, and went hiking. On Sunday we went to the park just to relax, then after we went to my uncle’s house and had a little party. I wanted to go to Coachella but i wasn’t allowed to go but besides that my weekend was below average.

CTR Project

Student Success Statement: Abraham Lincoln

“ I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that is right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong. “ - Abraham Lincoln

This quote shows us how much we think winning is a limit in a game, that all we care about is winning. In this case being right and getting what you want. The point of winning is when you play with character. When you are being a piece in the game and you earn your spot. You play for it, with pride and you fight for your spot. If you don’t work for your spot, and you don’t play fair, there are consequences that come within it. I want to be someone that plays fair, and earns their spot. Not for anybody else but for me. I want to fight for my spot for me, because i deserve it. Not because i want it, and it will be handed to me. Life doesn’t work that way, i don’t think it should be that way for anyone. If we don’t work hard for our spot, what’s the point of having it when later on you will get bored with it. Then you want something else, i’m not saying it’s a bad thing to change your mind. Im saying to be true to yourself.

Student Success Statement: Ralph Waldo Emerson

“ Character is higher than intellect. “- Ralph Waldo Emerson

When i read this quote, i wonder how this person came up with it. I wonder what inspired him to say such a strong sentence. This quote has a good meaning, but it can also have many meanings to it. But what i think when i see this quote is wisdom. We all have choices, to be what are friends expect us to be and act, or our true selves and act right and civilised. When i think about all the possibilities of how or what the personality of a person is, i laugh because i will never know. Each  personality is different, no one is the same. And that is a good thing, but it depends if you have character. Character is very important, it defines who you are. It shows other people the real you, and that is what truly matters, the real you.

Student Success Statement: Tyler Haws

“ I trust that my hard work will pay off.m “- Tyler Haws

This quote is very strong. I believe that if you work hard, it will pay off. Or you will be rewarded with something more bigger or valuable. Tyler was  very talented in basketball and that is a good thing. He would get up early in the morning and practice. But he was also committed into turning himself into god’s hands. That was more important to him, and i think god is much more important than anything. He had a choice to decide between basketball and priest. And he choice god because god will and always was with him. He made a good choice and i respect his decision. He worked hard to become what he wanted. And i believe it should always be this way, you work hard for something and you will be rewarded.
